All different. All equal. All achieving.
Calais Day Trip 14 June 2017
On Wednesday 14th June 15 pupils and 8 adults met bright and early at school for our trip across to France. After a two hour coach drive to Dover we checked in as foot passengers on the P+O ferry, ‘Spirit of France’, to Calais.
On arrival in the Place d’Armes in Calais we chose two restaurants, the ‘Café de la Tour’ and ‘Le Centaur’, for our lunch and everyone enjoyed choosing from the menu in French.
After lunch we bought and wrote postcards to send home, remembering that post boxes in France are yellow! Then we took a leisurely stroll down the main street to the ‘Hotel de Ville’, stopping for ice creams on the way. Pupils had a leaflet to complete by answering a series of questions about the town in French.
A visit to the supermarket on the way back gave everyone another chance to practise their language skills when buying gifts and snacks to bring back.
The return ferry journey was again a smooth crossing, and gave pupils in both year groups the opportunity to socialise and talk about the day. After a trouble free journey back to Farnborough parents and carers were waiting at school to meet us.
All the pupils ably demonstrated their proficiency in French and it was lovely to see their increasing confidence throughout the visit. All the adults were impressed by the way the pupils conducted themselves and felt that they were a credit to the school.
