PRIMARY CURRICULUM

All aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all children, irrespective of their ethnic background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background.  The Samuel Cody Primary Department has a broad and balanced curriculum including the National Curriculum programmes of study and the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

Our Primary curriculum has been freshly designed by staff to reflect a diverse, inclusive and meaningful approach to learning. It aims to help children understand the world around them in the past, present and future, while valuing different perspectives and experiences. Our broad curriculum is carefully planned to include all learners and to meet a wide range of needs, supported by subject specialists and external SLD specialist input. Each topic is reviewed every time it is taught, ensuring the curriculum remains responsive and adaptable to the needs of each cohort. We are committed to providing hands-on learning experiences that deepen understanding, spark curiosity and give children a voice in shaping their learning journey.

Should you have any questions on our school Curriculum, please contact the school office.

Religious Education (RE) helps children to learn about a range of different belief systems, worldviews and ideas, encouraging them to understand and respect that people around the world may think, believe and live differently from their own immediate experiences. Through RE, pupils develop curiosity, empathy and the ability to reflect on their own views while appreciating diversity in society. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE; if they wish to do so, they should contact their child’s class teacher to discuss this further.
